Air India has announced a new partnership with Delhi Metro and Delhi Airport to provide check-in services for international passengers at two metro stations in Delhi. This initiative allows travelers to check in their baggage at the metro station, giving them the freedom to explore the city without their luggage.
The baggage check-in and drop facility at Delhi airport ensures that luggage is securely transported and loaded onto the aircraft using advanced automated systems developed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL).
Previously available only for domestic flights, this service is now extended to international travelers and will operate at the New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium metro stations from 7 am to 9 pm. According to Air India’s statement, passengers can check in 12 to 2 hours before departure for domestic flights, and 4 to 2 hours before departure for international flights.
With a metro frequency of 10 minutes and a travel time of just 19 minutes to reach Terminal 3 at Delhi airport, this service offers a quick and hassle-free journey for passengers. Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer at Air India, highlighted that this initiative provides a cost-effective option for travelers from distant locations and helps reduce congestion at the airport, enhancing the overall experience for customers.
