Navi Mumbai Airport to Hold First Trial Landing on October 5

The highly anticipated Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is set to conduct its first trial landing of an Indian Air Force aircraft on October 5, 2024, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to be in attendance. Following the trial, domestic operations are scheduled to begin in March 2025, while international flights will commence by June 2025.

The NMIA project, a long-awaited development costing over ₹16,700 crore, has been steadily progressing under the joint efforts of City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) and the Adani Group. Recently appointed CIDCO Chairman Sanjay Shirsat, alongside other officials, inspected the site and expressed satisfaction with the progress. The Airport Authority of India also completed crucial testing of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) in August 2024, marking a major milestone towards operational readiness.
