India’s Fast-Track Immigration Programme Expands to 21 Airports

The Indian government has launched a Fast-Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) to enhance the efficiency of international travel. Initially implemented at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, the program is set to expand to 20 other airports across India, including major cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.

Key Features of the Fast-Track Immigration Programme

  • Objective: To significantly reduce immigration processing time from 30 minutes to just seconds.
  • Technology: The programme employs biometric verification and automated e-gates to expedite the process for pre-verified passengers.
  • Eligibility: Indian passport holders and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders can benefit from this programme.
  • Application Process: Travelers must apply online at ftittp.mha.gov.in and schedule an appointment to provide biometrics.
  • Implementation: The programme will be rolled out in two phases—Indian citizens and OCI cardholders first, followed by foreign nationals.

How It Works:

  1. Online Registration: Eligible passengers register online and provide necessary biometric details.
  2. Verification: Approved passengers are added to a White List for automated e-gate access.
  3. Immigration Clearance: At the airport, passengers use e-gates where their boarding pass, passport, and biometric data are scanned for quick processing.

Support and Contact: For assistance, passengers can reach out to the helpdesk at india.ftittp-boi@mha.gov.in.

The initiative aims to make India’s international travel experience more seamless and efficient, accommodating the growing number of travelers and enhancing security.
